Stefan Nowak
Chairperson of the Austrian Student Team
Duties in the Student Group
As the chairperson I am responsible for decisions. We have a democratic understanding within our team, but to not end up in endless discussions and repeating requests I am the one to:
- assign tasks
- control their progress and maintain deadlines
- connecting the necessary people together
- calling up meetings
In case I want a backup on a decision, I will ask the vice chairperson for her agreement.
I am the official contact person.
Additionally I am in charge of the mailinglist and the wiki. Technical requests to me please.
About the person
Born in Vienna/Austria, 1984.
I was always interested in music, rhytm, narrative drawings.
Through my stepfather (grafic designer) I got in touch with computers/graphics in the early 1990ies.
Graduated from Highschool in 2002.
Cumpulsory Civilian Service 2002-2003, assisting elderly people at home.
Since 2003, studying Media Design (Digital Arts) at University of Applied Arts, Vienna.
My personal objectives and skills
I am a very curious person, which is both a con and a pro.
I thought choosing (Trans/Multi-)Media Design as my study would thus be suitable, help me to overcome my multiple interest issue.
Through my study I came to the conclusion that I am at most interested in information technology. Its social/communicational potential in its implementation as the internet, and the generative potential of algorithms fascinates me. I am also very curiously watching the developments in the field of Transhumanism. I like discussions about Perception/Religion/Science.
In the team I consider myself be the least artistic person, but keen enough and suited to participate, and I think I can pretty much contribute in my area.
